Integration of expressive glass with architecture
Inova Hospital, Fairfax, VA
Located in the central rotunda adjacent to the main entrance the sculpture floats above the circular water feature and beneath the central skylight. Composed of dichroic glass and prismatic glass the sculpture shifts color when viewed from different locations and cast a colors into the rotunda space throughout the day. The circular form relates to the water feature beneath and represents the wholeness of life. Weaving through the circular forms are arcs of prismatic glass that capture and hold the reflected colors of the dichroic while also casting prismatic colors thought the rotunda.
